The 24 hour Festival of San Sebastian ended last night at midnight in the plaza. It seemed like the whole town showed up. Family and kids along w/ the younger crowd drinking and having a blast. We got to the plaza around 9:00 and ate at Megan's favorite pintxos place (tapas everywhere else in Spain). We ate more than we should have but couldn't help ourselves. Megan, with the bank of mom and dad, ordered one of everything. With a couple of cervesa grandes we managed to finish all of them. It was now about 11:30 and one half hour away from the final act of the 24 hour play! Megan and Ryan moved to the center of the plaza to stake out their space which is essentially the space in which you exist. Staci and I ordered up another cervesa and vino tinto and got some space along the outer wall. Staci doesn't like crowds all that much!! By the way...did I tell you that it was raining. Doesn't seem to bother these Basque folks one bit. The whole experience was somehow made more texturally distinctive by the physical element of the rain coming and going. Side note, as I type this blog Saturday morning, the textural element continues to fall. We got back to the apartment around 1:30 and hit the bed hard. At least the parents did. The young adults claimed they were going to watch a movie. It is now 9:30 a.m. saturday morning and everything is quiet. No kids, no wife, and thankfully....no drums!
Run, hike to the top of the mountain and dinner at a restaurant on an island right off of San Miguel! Muy Bien!
